TODAY AS YESTERDAY...
The scenery is suggestive and inviting; Burano island is gently relaxing beside the calm waters of the lagoon, yet it's only a short hop across those waters to majestic Venice, where you'll be immersed in the enchantment of another era.
Here, in colourful Piazza Galuppi, in a traditional 1800's Buranella building, you'll find the home of Emilia, a shop and workshop, where for three generations, a native Buranese family has passionately nurtured the creative magic behind the world's most important lace, "il Burano".
Everyday we at Emilia welcome visitors from all over the world with the same warmth and friendliness we greet visitors at our home.
Inside our store, master crafters work their magic, jealously guarding their lace making secrets, and passing them on like family heirlooms from mother to daughter.
One flight up, in the family museum, there is a collection of 16th-17th century wedding garments and antique pieces of lace that tell our family history.
Kings, princes, sheiks, film and sports personalities, and all who love "Home & Style" will appreciate our design studio, which skilfully combines this magnificent antique handwork with the elegance of modem surroundings, in creations of linens for the home made exclusively by hand, to unequalled standards.
Egyptian cotton and Irish linen are the basics of Burano lace.
Collectable tapestries and other precious articles are all handmade by our master artisans.
These precious objects adorn some of the world's most exclusive homes, yachts, and hotels.
Clients who visit our studio will personally witness the care and passion of the entire "EMILIA" family, which along with a helpful, professional staff, will make your visit a special and memorable experience.
